The film is a remake of the 1984 slasher film of the same name, which was written and directed by Wes Craven, and designed to reboot the franchise. The remake will see its theatrical release on April 16, 2010. The film stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, a role made famous by Robert Englund, while Rooney Mara takes over the role of Nancy Thompson, who was originally portrayed by Heather Langenkamp.
